BYW Road Trip Continued
Remember how I told you that the Blogging Your Way NYC Road Trip workshop was so inspiring that my head was spinning. Well, I wasn't joking. I told you that the only photos I took were the few polaroids I shared but I completely forgot that actually did take a few photos. I thought you might like to see some shots of the light studio and of Holly in action.

#Stripemania Blogroll
Holly is the best. She took a fun little idea of having bloggers post photos of themselves in their favorite stripey ensemble and turned it into a visual blogroll with 285 blogs.

A little added bonus - she posted my photo along side these lovely ladies on her blog Friday evening. It was a nice surprise to wake up to Saturday morning. See holly's original post here. The blogroll can be found on this pinterest board.

Tasteworthy: Souvlaki for the Soul
Souvlaki for the Soul is a food and travel blog written by Peter, an Australia resident of Greek decent. I originally discovered Peter's mouthwatering photographs of food via a flickr food styling group but only recently started following his blog. I'm not sure what took me so long to discover the home of these photographs I've been enjoying for many months but I'm glad I finally did. I have a severe case of wanderlust lately so I enjoy following Peter on his travels, revel in his food discoveries, and attempt to recreate his recipes.

Favorite Post of the Week - February 5, 2010
I received a vintage globe as a gift this Christmas and I found this post supremely helpful when attempting to date it. To be clear, I did not try to take my globe out for dinner and a movie I was just trying to figure out how old it is.

This graphic is from the blog hindsvik where they also provide a pretty extensive timeline of what the names of the countries existed in a specific year. Head over and check it out and while you're at it you'll probably also want to visit the hindsvik vintage online shop. I want pretty much everything in the shop. Enjoy!
P.S. Please don't buy that blue floor lamp. I'm saving up for it. Thanks, love you, bye!

The Sweet Paul Lowe
I'm not sure what originally brought me to the Sweet Paul blog but I'm so happy I landed there. Sweet Paul is authored Paul Lowe, a food and prop stylist, originally from Norway and now living in New York City. The blog is fully of inspiration and contains simple but elegant recipes and craft ideas. It's a blog I visit daily and am always stashing away ideas I find there to try in the future.
Imagine my excitement when Paul announced yesterday that there will soon be a Sweet Paul Magazine! The magazine, a quarterly premiering this Spring, will be a lifestyle magazine about making simple, elegant meals and stylish easy crafts for the home.
Regular blog posts from Sweet Paul such as "Recipe Monday" and "Crafty Friday" will be extended into full 8 page stories, along side pages of decoration ideas, holiday tips, and shopping for kids and pets. Each issue will also feature the kitchen of a special guest and a showcase of talented up and coming artists with cutting edge work in housewares, food, jewelry, pets, and kids clothing. I expect this magazine will be well received by the blogging community and is one to look out for.

Favorite Post of the Week - January 8, 2010
I just occurred to me that I have not done a favorite post of the week for an entire month. It was easy to pick a favorite this week, it's from the oh so fabulous blog, Elements of Style. Any child of the 80's will appreciate this one.
This cannot be happening. Is the fashion industry trying to bring back the SCRUNCHIE??? When my girlfriend sent this link to me I almost has a friggin’ stroke right here at my desk. What’s next, banana clips? Should I dust off my slap bracelets and Color Me Badd tapes? I know a lot of hideous trends have resurfaced this year: shoulder pads and hammer pants being the worst offenders, but scrunchies? Don’t these celebrity stylists...Head over to the post to read the rest.

Thank you Elements of Style for pointing out the fact that the scrunchie is most definitely NOT an Element of Style.

Rollin with the Homies
P.S. Did you hear that Brittany Murphy died? How sad is that? Clueless is still one of my favorite movies so the title of this post is a little nod to our dearly departed Brittany. "...And my buns, they don't feel nothin' like steel."

Favorite Post of the Week - December 3, 2009
How could not love a blog who's tagline is "If Decor is Your Porn, This is Your Blog." My favorite post for this week is from Decorno. It's a silly one as all of my favorite posts of the week have been so far. What can I say? I'm a silly girl and stuff like this makes me happy.
Care to share the blog posts that you couldn't get enough of this week?

Favorite Post of the Week, Part Deux
I couldn't pick just one favorite post this week. I had one of those weeks where I was feeling kind of down in the dumps so I really appreciated reading posts that didn't try to be anything more than silly and fun. I laughed too hard at this random stream of consciousness from Becky over at TheBubbReport. The last two sentence are genius, you must go read it.

Le Love....Le Sigh
Today how about a bit of a departure from the usual decor related musings. Instead let's spend the morning getting lost in this beautiful blog dedicated to love - the good, the bad, and the unknown.

But more than just sweet images about love, the blog is full of poems and stories submitted by readers that tell tales of love found and lost, of pain, of absolute joy, of regret, of all the things that can be associated with true love. It's a beautiful escape for the afternoon so make yourself a cup of tea and try not to let your coworkers see you tearing up at your desk.

Favorite Post of the Week
You can expect to see Favorite Posts of the Week occur at a regular frequency. I read a lot of blogs and at least once a week a particular post stands out and makes me smile, makes me really happy, or makes me flat out drool. This is one for those posts and it made me laugh out loud. I present to you my favorite post of the week courtesy of The Brick House:

Discover: Interior Design
Hello folks, my crazy project schedule has been put hold so that means I should have more time to spend with you all. Today I wanted to introduce you to a blog I've been following for the past six months. The blog is Discover: Interior Design written by Kristin Warbington, a LEED AP Interior Designer based in Georgia.
Discover: Interior Design is not just a blog full of beautiful interior photos (not that we don't all love those), it dispenses fundamental information to help you navigate the field of interior design. It's like you're getting a free education in the field. I especially want to point towards a recent post which describes the Elements & Principles of Interior Design. The Elements and Principles of interior design form the foundation for all design. The application of these elements and principles creates an interior that is both physically and psychologically comfortable. The Elements of Design are: Space, Line, Shape, Texture, Light, Color, & Pattern. The Principles of Design are: Balance, Harmony, Rhythm, Emphasis, Scale & Proportion. I won't really elaborate any more from there, be sure to check out Kristin's post because the post is well written and the information is easy to digest.
If you are a novice to the field of interior design and read a lot of design blogs you probably see these terms used often. Having this basic foundation will help you to really understand why a room design works. Instead of looking at a photograph and thinking' "oh, that's a beautiful space" you will have the tools needed to dissect the space and translate the elements and principles it displays into your own home.
While you're visiting Discover: Interior Design the Design Jargon and Decor Tips pages. These are also loaded with useful (and interesting) information.

Design Evolution Tumblr
I've just been slammed with a bunch of work for an important project so I anticipate a lighter blog posting schedule in the near future. I thought this might be a good time to formally introduce you to the Design Evolution tumblr blog.
Initially I set up this for my own personal use and wasn't really planning on sharing it with anyone. But then I though why not share. I use this blog as a place to dump all of the beautiful photos of interiors that I find around the web. It's strictly interiors, all of photos are tagged with terms I feel are relevant to the photo and the source is linked under the image. I highly recommend this type of blog to anyone looking for a way to organize a big stash of inspiration. Tumblr blogs are super simple to set up and post to. It takes just a few seconds to upload your photo(s) and include any text you'd like. Just try not to get too sucked into the tumblr world, there's a lot of fab stuff out there.
Have fun exploring, trying using search terms like - dining room, study, lighting, orange, etc. and see what you find. Enjoy!

Check Out My Post on Decor8 Today
A few weeks ago I mentioned I was working on a guest post for one of my favorite bloggers. Today my post in up on Decor8 and it's quite exciting. Holly is such an inspiration to me and I've learned so much from her by following her blog, taking her e-course, and now just counting her as one of my most fun and silly web friends. Any time she needs a hand I'm more than happy to drop what I'm doing and chip in. Which is why I was super excited when she asked that I participate in her "Favorite Things" series that is running on Decor8 while she gets settled in Germany. Hop on over to Decor8, check out my post and let me know what you think.

Discover Interior Design
Hello everyone, I'm paying a visit to Kristin from Discover Interior Design today. She created a fun "At Home With" series and I was happy to be a part of it.

Kristin put together some great interview question so head over and check out my attempt to be clever.

How I Spent My Saturday Night...
I've been busy this evening. Instead of having a long list of blog names in my sidebar I decided I'd rather move my blogroll to a separate page. So now if you click the link that says "Check out The Blogs I Dig" it will take you to a page that looks like this:

I still have more to add but I got sleepy creating all of the icons. I'm also still fighting with getting the links to open in a new window. Blogger seems to be winning that battle.

New Blog Finds for Friday
In case some of you may not have already figured it out, I spent a good chunk of my day online and a large chunk of that time is spent checking out what's new in the blogosphere. Sometimes I actually overwhelmed by all the wonderful inspiration out there. Friday's have become my day for a release. A day to purge my brain and share some of the wonderful blogs I have come across throughout the week.
I don't really need to say much about this blog except that you definitely need to check it out. It's one of those blogs that I consider my happy place where I can escape and scroll through endless lovely images of fashion and home decor.

My favorite feature is one called "Talking About My Inspiration" where bloggers share information about what inspires them, how they organize their inspiration, and how the ultimately apply it.
Gathering Spriggs is a vintage inspired blog written by Heather Spriggs Thompson, an artist and designer based out of Nashville, TN. Heather also has an etsy shop with the same name where she sells adorable retro inspired aprons and other vintage items.

You Can Call Me Chris: Tried & True
Christina over at You Can Call Me Chris asked me to put together a list of my top five favorite beauty products for her Tried & True series. I'm generally a low maintenance kid of gal but I was able to pull together a few items that I need every single day. Head over and check out what I came up with.

New Blog Finds for Friday

Spend some time this afternoon checking out the beautiful collages, watercolors, and photographs on A Creative Mint. It's a pretty new blog so I'm interested to see it grow and develop.
Decor Addict is actually not new to me but it might be to you. It is an interior design blog with the emphasis on featuring as much Canadian content as possible. I think there is a bit of a void in the design blog world about featuring products from Canada so all you Canucks out there this might be just what you were looking for.

Bronette is a really clever mix of art, design, music, and fashion. I've been particularly lame with my music selection lately so I rely on them to keep me in the know.
The Create Girl is a reccesionista (eww I can't believe I just used that word) at heart and her blog is full of afforadable and fabulous fashion and pieces for the home.
First of all I just love the name A Life More Fabulous. Who doesn't like the idea of a more fabulous life? This blog is basically a drool fest of amazing (or should I say fabulous) interiors.
Hope your enjoy these blogs and have a great weekend. Don't forget to spoil Mom!
