I Love Happy Decorating Accidents

I'm always pleased when a piece you think isn't going to work magically does. I purchased a mirror for my dining room a few months ago from the Company Store because it was about $39 and had the Moroccan feel that I was looking to bring into the space. When it arrive I felt pretty ehhh about it. The color wasn't what I expected. It was much more beige than I expected and looked not so hot with the white doors of my buffet. As I mentioned here, I considered painting it another color but hadn't yet gotten around to it.

Enter the most fabulous lamp shades ever from Anthropologie. I scored two new lamp shades for an excellent price. When they arrived I rested the mirror next to them and magically it all works. The color of shades is so close to the mirror you would think I planned it to work out that way. Now I love the mirror *almost* as much as I love my new lamp shades. All I have to do now is actually get the mirror hung on the wall.

Update: For the inquiring minds who want to know, the lamp bases are from Urban Outfitters. The lamp shades don't actually fit that type of lamp because it does not have a harp so I ordered these handy lamp shade adapters that allow you to clip the shade right onto the bulb.

Check out this post for some tips on how to order the right size shade to fit your lamp.

  1. Those shades are gorgeous. Totally digging the pattern. I need to stop by your place one day and just bask in the perfection of it all. (And dream my place looked that good)
